 Burrs and Routers

IMCO Carbide Tool burrs perform better and last longer because they are CNC manufactured to exacting standards burrs using a technique called sectional fluting which allows the burrs to cut on the radius as well as the body of the tool. Our carbide burrs have been known to last many times longer than their HSS counterparts while costing only slightly more.

Double Cut
Right and left hand flutes combine to produce a chisel type cutting edge. The chisel edge permits faster penetration and stock removal while the reduced pull of the tool allows better control and reduces operator fatigue.

Standard Cut
Standard cut has only right hand spiral flutes and is intended for general purpose use on cast iron, steel, copper alloys, brass alloys and other ferrous materials. It offers good stock removal and excellent surface finishes.

Aluma Cut
Aluma cut has wide flutes for easy chip disposal and an advanced relief design for added strength and longer tool life and is intended for rapid stock removal in aluminum, brass, zinc alloys, most plastics, and soft non-ferrous materials.

Most deburring operations are done by hand which means feed rates are variable and dependent upon the skill of the operator. In general, move the burr at an even rate and pressure. To maintain maximum spindle speed while the burr is cutting, the operator must limit the pressure exerted on the tool. Too much pressure will slow spindle speed and defeat the rapid cutting action of the tool, and possibly damage the tool. Keep the burr moving at all times to prevent the tool from digging into the work piece. When the burr becomes dull, as evidenced by rounded or chipped cutting edges, stop using it instead of applying more pressure.
